Mitch Slaymaker is the current President of the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA). He has been in law enforcement in Texas since 1997 and has held a variety of positions including Corporal, Sergeant and Lieutenant. He is an instructor and holds a Master Peace Officer license. Mitch is very active in various local Associations and has held the position of Board member, Treasurer, Vice President, President for approximately 8 years. During this time he has been directly involved, or closely associated, with the bargaining of several labor contracts including one of the most profitable meet and confer contracts in the State at the time. Mitch is very familiar with politics and what it takes to be successful in a political environment. Mitch has been a Board Member of TMPA for the past 9 years, his time with TMPA has been filled with legislative efforts as well as efforts on a local level with Police Departments of all sizes. He has also been Chairman of several TMPA task forces to vet various mergers and negotiations.
Ray Hunt is a graduate of the University of Texas and is the current President of the HPOU. Ray began the Houston Police Academy in 1989 and worked night shift patrol for over 18 years. Ray has served as an HPOA shift representative, HPOA Board Member, HPOU Secretary and HPOU Vice President. Ray was appointed by Governor George Bush in 1997 as a TCLEOSE Commissioner and served until 2004. Ray is married to his high school prom date, Amy, and they have 2 grown children and 1 beautiful granddaughter.
Ron is a 26 year veteran with the Dallas Police Department (DPA) and a Detective with the Southeast Investigative Division. He is also currently an area Vice President for the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO). Ron has been on the Dallas Police Association Board since 1997, most notably serving as the Secretary/Treasurer from 1999 to 2011. He was elected President of the DPA in January 2012.
Josh is a Past President of TMPA and has served on the Board of Directors for almost 10 years. He has chaired several committees within TMPA and is a Past President of the Allen Police Association. Josh is a veteran of the United States Air Force and has been a law enforcement officer for the past 20 years. Throughout his career, Josh has served as a patrol officer, a crimes against children detective, SWAT member, Field Training Sergeant/Officer, recruiting and testing sergeant, bike patrol officer, intelligence officer and a use of force/defensive tactics instructor. Currently, Josh holds a Sergeant position and is assigned to the Patrol Division for the City of Allen, where he manages a patrol shift and the Bike Unit.
Heath Wester currently holds the position of 1st Vice President with TMPA. He has been in law enforcement in Texas since 1992 and has held a variety of positions including Tactical Officer, Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, and Detective. He holds a Master Peace Officer license and is a Past President of his local association. Heath is very familiar with politics and what it takes to be successful in a political environment. Heath has been a Board Member of TMPA for the past eight years, his time with TMPA has been filled with legislative efforts, bylaws and constitution issues, budget and other day-to-day duties for TMPA.
